It's very thoughtful.

[Enough that she was making him forget a question or two he had from earlier. He took the time to focus on that soothing tea and to attempt to remind himself not to push Rin's buttons when she was being what he presumed to be totally genuine with herself.

If he wanted to see more, he guessed he'd need a little more care than usual.]

[Hmph! It's nothing more than an investment! Tohsaka sets her teacup on its saucer and rises to stand so she may scoop tea into one of her smaller tins. A perfect small size to give his mother a few cups of tea.]

Ah. [Rin was quick to start and Riki ended up sitting forward so he could watch. Once the tin was shoved in his hand, he leaned in to sniff it. Aromatic tea leaves weren't quite his taste but he could tell his mother would fawn over it.]

[Except he'd probably be doing mundane chores for her in the future, so his mom was probably just going to have him hand-deliver everything.]

Who says anything about arguing? You preface the delivery! It's said before you even hand it over. Do I have to make a hand written letter?!

[He kept eye-contact with her even as he took another long, long sip of tea.]

—Tch. I could probably think of some ways to rectify that.

Run 'em by me. She's probably still mad about me fighting the Sanwa family so it's not like I can get in any more trouble.

And what if I just cut you off? Never spoke to you again?

You can dump me but you won't get lucky with her.

What, would she march up to my house and barge right in?

She knows where your place is 'cause she passes it goin' to work. It'd just take an extra minute or two to come up and knock on the door.

I know how to avoid solicitors.

Just let her be nice to you. She just likes to make little trades here and there.

I wouldn't want her targeted because she's decided to become familiar with me.

Mmph. [Averting his eyes.]

That excuse doesn't work for me.

Why? Because you endanger your family enough on your own?

Some asshole broke my old man's hand because he beat him in a game of cards. What was I supposed to do?

Destroy his entire life, obviously. And that's exactly what anyone trying to get at me will do to you or your family.

Not just his life.

[The thought alone was enough to pull something right out of him. With a gentle 'tack', he set down the tea cup in his hand on its saucer so he wouldn't crack it. He told Sabu the next time he turned his eye on his family, he'd kill him.]

Keeping distance from you would just make it worse. If everyone's in the know, they'll keep their guard up and be ready.
